The Demarest family is excited to be back for our 123rd Season!

Our farm market is running in full swing, with fresh fruits and vegetables,  from-scratch salad bar, country bakery, delicatessen, and ice cream shoppe.  

   Summer has arrived and with it comes some of Mother Nature’s most delicious creations, and Demarest Farm has some of the best there is to offer.

      Did you know that New Jersey is one of the nation’s top producers of blueberries and peaches? In 2001, New Jersey farmers produced 19.5 percent of the nation’s blueberry crop. In 2002, the state’s farmers harvested 62 million pounds of peaches. Demarest Farm peaches are picked at the height of ripeness, so each one is packed with sweet, juicy goodness. You haven’t lived until you’ve bitten into one of our softball-sized jumbo peaches and had the juices dripping down your chin and hand. Don’t miss out; our peaches are available only from late-July through early September.

      Through most of August, guests to our farm can take a hay wagon ride through our sprawling orchards and pick their own peaches. There’s nothing like picking a fresh peach off the tree and eating it on the spot. Call for peach picking dates and times.

      Our homegrown corn is available from early July through early September. The corn is hand-picked before dawn each day and brought in fresh each morning. As you sink your teeth into a perfectly cooked ear of corn, each kernel explodes with sweetness. For optimum sweetness and tenderness, boil a small amount of water in bottom of a pan; ears of corn do not have to be completely submerged, you more or less want to steam them. When water boils, place ears of corn in pan and cover, cooking for 3-4 minutes, no more. Remove corn immediately. Place in a bowl and cover with a kitchen towel. Overcooking corn turns the sugar in its kernels turn to starch, creating that mushy texture that no one enjoys.

      In addition to fabulous peaches and corn, Demarest Farm offers homegrown white peaches, yellow and white nectarines, field-grown staked tomatoes and other vegetables.
